Students who will live in the dormitory or in an apartment are required to have property insurance. The types of insurance required depend on the locale.
Personal Liability Insurance
*Limited to those who reside in the International House Building A and Building B as well as the International Dormitory Hortensia.
Students residing in the International House Building A and Building B as well as the International Dormitory Hortensia must buy Personal Liability Insurance. (at a cost of 1,900 yen per year).
This insurance for international students covers harm or damages caused to others by accident and broken items. Nagasaki University International Student Support Society covers the full amount of the premium. The Liaison Center for International Education Administration office will perform the application procedures on behalf of the students.

Comprehensive Housing Subsidy for International Students
There is a scheme in which Nagasaki University will act as a joint guarantor for international students who have difficulties finding one. When students rent a private apartment, Nagasaki University will be their guarantor and apply for Comprehensive Renter’s Insurance for International Students that costs 4000 yen for one year, or 8000 yen for two years.
This insurance covers damages that you may cause to other people or their belongings, or damages that you may cause to the apartment or the dormitory in which you live.
The full amount of the insurance fee is paid by the Nagasaki University International Student Support Society.
